This is the review that Zora Neale Hurston’s nephew, Edwards Hurston, posted on Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group’s page after seeing ‘Moses(es)’ at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven last year:
‘Hello all, My review of Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group in Moses(es). On the first day of summer I attended the June 21.2014 show in New Haven CT. When I first walked in the theater it warmed my heart to hear the voice of my aunt Zora Neale Hurston coming out of the speakers that hung above me. Listening to her speak from old radio interviews and hearing her singing old folk railroad songs was an unexpected treat to my ears. The production was everything the New York Times said it was and more. I found it to be brilliant, powerful, smooth, exciting, and a masterpiece of amazing choreographed dance. This wonderful one and a half hour of non-stop dance is a must see event. I cannot stress enough how tremendously talented this young group of gifted dancer are. Their singing and dance set the tone for the entire night. As Zora Neale Hurston’s nephew, I was proud to be in the audience and experience the thrill of this incredible production. Reggie Wilson/Fist and Heel Performance Group, delivered in a big way. Congratulations and thanks to everyone that was involved in this production, bravo, and job well done.’
